Another young hedgehog arrived at our surgery two days ago cold and lethargic and sadly with a broken leg. The leg was so badly damaged; our only options were to either put him to sleep or to amputate. The damaged leg had been broken for while and the hoglet had adapted his walking skills to only use his three good limbs anyway, so after some TLC and some good milk feeds he was bright and full of life, so we decided to amputate...

Our latest little conker admitted today, at only two weeks old she was found in someones garden crying out for her mum. Heartbreakingly her mum had been killed by a car and at a tiny 79g her chances of survival alone would of been nil. She had already become a victim to flystrike (which we have promptly cleaned up for her) so she will need some wound care and antibiotics...
