Your pet can be back at home recovering with you on the same day as they are neutered.

If you don’t plan to breed from your pet then the most responsible action to take is to get them neutered. The term neutering refers to the relatively quick procedure of removing your pet’s reproductive organs, if your pet is a male then this is referred to as castration (removal of the testicles) and if your pet Is female this is called spaying (removal of the uterus and ovaries). Here at Jacqui Paterson’s we offer a neutering service throughout Stockton and the surrounding areas.

As well as the obvious benefit of preventing any surprise pregnancies, there are also other health and behavioural advantages that comes with getting your pet neutered.

The additional benefits of getting a female animal neutered are:

  • A much lower risk of mammary tumours

  • A much lower risk of mammary tumours

  • Prevention of cancer of the uterus and ovaries

  • Prevention of uterine infections (Pyometra)

  • No longer coming in to season which prevents bleeding and unwanted and attention and mating behaviour from males.

The additional benefits of getting a female animal neutered are:

  • Prevention of testicular cancer

  • Reduction of prostatic diseases, including cancer

  • Prevention or reduction in aggressive hormonal behaviour

  • Prevention of urine marking and roaming

The neutering procedure is relatively straight forward during which your pet will be anaesthetised and constantly monitored. When they wake up they may feel a little groggy but in most cases your pet will be able to return home with you to recover on the same day.
