Microchipping in Guisborough
Did you know that as of April 2016 all dogs in England must be microchipped by the time they are 8 weeks old? That’s why here at Jacqui Paterson’s we offer a microchipping service for our clients in Guisborough and the surrounding areas.
If your pet is not microchipped, you could end up with a hefty £500 fine. Whilst the law only applies to dogs at the moment, cats, rabbits and exotic pets can also be microchipped. Cats can roam therefore we do advise that all cats, male and female are microchipped
Over 250,000 pets go missing each year and here at Jacqui Paterson’s we understand just how difficult a time it must be for you and your family. Microchipping greatly increases that chances of you being contacted should your pet be found– particularly if your pet is stolen and has been recovered from police or a local authority, a microchip may be the only way that your pet can be identified. Microchips are known to be more effective than a collar identification tag as these can easily fall of, break or be removed.
What is a Microchip?
– A microchip is a very small electronic device, about the same size as a grain of rice, that is implanted under your pet’s skin.
– Every chip has a unique 15-digit number encased in a protective shell which is “read” using a special scanner.
– This protective shell helps to prevent the microchip from causing a reaction or moving around which can make it difficult to read.
Your pet’s microchip will last a lifetime and the only step you need to maintain it is to make sure your registered contact details are up to date.
