Ed

Vet Ed Macholc has been at the practice since May 2016. He brings with him over 30 years of veterinary expereince!. Ed and his wife breed and show highland ponies and Hebridean sheep and is also a hot air balloon enthusiast! Ed looks after dogs and cats for us across the three branches.

Principle vet and practice owner Jacqui qualified from Glasgow University in 1987, she went on to open our first branch in Hartburn in 1996, followed by Preston Farm in 2010 and most recently our Nunthorpe branch in 2016. Jacqui’s ethos has always been that animals should be treated with the same respect and kindness as humans and animal welfare has always been at the forefront of her work. Out of work Jacqui enjoys cycling, hill walking and has an extensive knowledge of wines.

Vet Dominika Kowal is also Polish and has been a practicing vet for over 15 years she has been with the practice since 2011. Dominika is a certificate holder in small animal surgery but has also done extra studies to broaden her knowledge of small furries such as rabbits, guinea pigs and other rodents. Dominika loves to travel and is currently in Bali at the time of this publishing. She also enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her two fatty cats Lucy and Polly.

 

Simona

Vet Simona Pankinaite joined the team in 2016. Simona is originally from Lithuania. She spent time with us each summer during her studies to gain experience and then made the move to the UK after qualification. Simona treats dogs and cats and works between Preston Farm and Nunthorpe branches. Simona brings with her from Lithuania her Westie Luna and cat Dorian (Grey).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vet Rachel Sanki joined the team in early 2017. Rachel has an interest in exotic species and is gaining more knowledge and experience in this area. In her spare time Rachel enjoys the unusual hobby of aerial acrobatics!. Later this year Rachel is off to China to help with a project that helps protect, treat and rehabilitate the endangered Moon Bears.

Jenny

Practice Manager Jenny Walker joined the practice in 2010. Jenny is a qualified Veterinary Nurse by trade and was a nurse for 16 years before taking on her new role. Jenny has a special cat called Robbie who has some interesting habits….

Renata

Vet Renata Szwej works mainly from our Hartburn practice. Renata came to us from Poland and has been with the practice since 2004. She treats mainly dogs and cats but also has an interest in rabbits and guinea pigs as well. When she’s not at work Renata enjoys walking her dog Myszka on the beach.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alana

Nursing Assistant Alana Jones has been with the practice since 2015. Alana works between the branches and has excellent communication skills. Her happy personality help our clients feel that their pets are in good hands. Alana has two cats, McGregor and Otter who she ‘fostered’ from the surgery and who then adopted her as their Mum once they realised they had found their forever home.

Eloise

Head Nurse Eloise Owen began her career as a receptionist when Preston Farm surgery opened in 2010. She then worked her way up thought the ranks going from student nurse to qualified nurse before becoming head nurse in 2016. Eloise has a passion for rabbits and has gone on to do pass her diploma in rabbit care, behaviour and welfare. Eloise also founded our in house charity ‘Wild For Life’ in 2013 which helps rehabilitate sick and injured wildlife that gets brought to the practice.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jess

Student Nurse Jess Welsh officially joined the team in 2014 after completing over a years worth of work expereince with the practice. Jess has previously kept parrots so enjoys helping our clients with their feathered friends. In her spare, she time tries to keep up with her lively puppy Brian!

Ann is Jacqui's partner and takes a role in the administration side of the practice. Ann enjoys travel, which always includes some animal spotting (her and Jacqui are pictured here in Madagascar) she also loves singing and is a member of a local choir in Stockton.

Carmen

Student Nurse Carmen Griffiths came to us as a work expereince student in 2013. She then became our kennel assistant before being offered the position of student nurse. Carmen loves to spend time with her pets, she has three dogs (Mitzee, Lexi and Penny) , three ferrets (Rodolfo, Flo and Jadis) and her two rabbits (Oscar and Bella).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nicky

Nursing Assistant Nicky Thompson works at our Hartburn branch and is our longest serving member of staff. Nicky joined the practice a few years after the first branch opened in 1998. In her spare time Nicky enjoys crafting and makes beautiful greetings cards, she also has three dogs to keep her on her toes, Dot, Millie and Ted.

 

 

Victoria

Nursing Assistant Victoria Bennett joined the team in 2016 after many months of work experience. Victoria travels to work each day from Hexham which shows her passion for her work. Lee

Nursing Assistant Lee Biagi has been part of the Jacqui Patersons team since 2015. Lee has a passion for exotic pets and has extensive knowledge or many reptile species which proves useful when advising our clients. Lee has a faithful companion in the form of Luca the cat. He also keeps frogs and stick insects!.

Sue

Senior Receptionist Suzanne Little started on reception when our Preston Farm branch first opened in 2010. She was previously a client of Jacqui’s before coming on board. Sue has extensive knowledge of the workings of the practice and handles a lot of the extra admin as well as manning reception. Sue loves German Shepard Dogs and loves nothing better than getting down to the dogs level and having some doggy smooches!.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Caroline

Receptionist Caroline Ward joint the team at Hartburn in 2015. Caroline had previously worked at the Dogs Trust at Darlington so we knew she had a passion for animals. She loves nothing more that to spend her free time with her family and her whippet Louis who she adores.

 

 

Pam

Receptionist Pam Skerritt has been working at the Hartburn surgery since 2007. Pam has an excellent relationship with the clients and remembers the regulars that come into Hartburn. Pam’s Scottie dog, pictures sadly passed away last year, however shortly after that a cheeky little terrier was brought into the surgery who she adopted. Cheryl

Receptionist Cheryl Smith is a self-confessed crazy cat lady! She joined the team in 2015, mostly working at Preston Farm but also at the other two sites. Cheryl has five cats, Belle, Mischief, Munchkin, Teddy and Terror who rule the roost in her house! She also fosters cats and kittens when required and loves every minute of it!

 

 

Nursing Assistant Pam Newton has had a bit of a break from nursing and her previous job couldn’t have been more different as Pam used to serve in the Royal Navy as an Airframe and Engine mechanic on Wessex MK5 helicopters! She came back to nursing last year and joined our team. Map also volunteers for Staffordshire Bull Terrier rescue raising money for this worth cause. Jean

Receptionist Jean Brown is the newest member of the team. Jean is at the helm at our Nunthorpe branch and always has a cheery smile and some chat for all the clients who arrive there. Jean has two cats, Cosmo and Coco. She loves to spend her time off doing all kinds of dancing.

Nursing Assistant Billie-Jo Duncan works between Hartburn and Preston Farm. Billie-Jo is a very experienced nurse and copes well when we have a busy day. Billie and her family run a greyhound and lurcher rescue, taking in dogs after they have finished their racing careers that otherwise may not have that chance of a home.
